How to spot an Energy Vampire
We have all come across at least one toxic partner, boss, co-worker, friend or family member who had the pleasure of destroying our personal confidence and enjoyed making us doubt ourselves. These toxic people are called energy vampires. For those who saw the first signs that you were in the presence of an energy vampire and you had the courage to cut ties with them, you have made the best decision of your life because, you have dodged a bullet. For those who do not know how to spot them in your life, here is how we discern them.
What is an Energy Vampire?
Energy Vampires are toxic people who like to feed on the energy of others in order to stay powerful and in control. They enjoy draining you emotionally and can’t show any empathy or compassion towards others because they can’t really feel emotions. They tend to never listen to other people’s comments or advice and get angry when you criticize them. They like to argue and contradict. They are known to be very cold, selfish, arrogant and condescending.Vampires are opportunists who only stay in your life for the wrong reasons. They will use you for your money, status, connections or anything that can help lift them financially and professionally. Always remember that everything for them is extremely calculated. We often see them in a completely chaotic love relationship and always with someone by their side, never alone, because they can’t stand loneliness and need to feed on someone’s energy at all times. They love to drain the energy of their victims and devitalize them. When they can no longer manipulate their victims, they go searching for the next ‘High’ with other people who are willing to feed their ego and accept the unacceptable because they love instant gratification. Even if you have known them for many years, you will feel like you don’t really know them in a deep way.
How to spot them
Energy vampires love:
- Money, sex and power
- Total destruction
- Manipulation and projection
- Power-trips and being considered and seen as important
- Self-proclaimed expert in everything
When they know you see them exactly for who they are, they get really nervous about the truth being revealed about them, so they intentionally bring a lot of chaos and destruction into the victim’s life, so that they remain silent. Remember that these low vibrational beings love to create drama and blame it on their victims. They then commit many regrettable actions in order to not be seen for who they truly are.
What actions they take when discovered
Defamation of character
They will project a false narrative and a false image of the character of their victims and will have the pleasure in painting them in a negative and condescending way. They often accuse their victims of crimes they never committed. They are willing to lie, gossip, and slander in order to conceal the truth. Remember they are doing this to push and control the narrative.Their game is to put the focus on you because while others are busy focusing on you, no one is watching them. This is one of their tactics that they like to play to make sure nothing get’s exposed about them. They also like to share with all their friends and family how obsessed and emotionally unstable you are, but behind all these lies, they are actually talking about themselves. They will be constantly running your name in their mouth and you will be the main topic in their conversations within their social groups, just like a local celebrity. Especially if you are honest, sincere, intelligent and talented, they are excessively threatened by that.
When they are in their smear campaign phase and they are destroying your reputation left and right, they desperately want you to feel stuck in your life, with no opportunity for career advancement and more importantly, if you run a business, they will want to destroy your reputation to the point that you have no customers. These energy vampires love to abuse their power to make sure that they stay on ‘Top’ and that their victims never have the chance to rise to higher positions than them. This is one of the reasons why these double-life psychopaths often find themselves in positions of power so that they can control the advancements of others and be in charge of their level of success.
Emotional blackmail
When they know they haven’t destroyed their victims enough for their liking, they’ll come back when you least expect it to test the waters to see if you’re willing to play along in their games. They are so full of themselves that they actually believe you will take them back. They will say whatever needs to be said in order to change your mind and let them in. Be careful when they decide to project a false image of themselves and show you how much they have changed. They do that because they have no identity and are more comforable playing a role in order to please you and get back into your life.
When they’re in the phase of showering you with love and attention, they’ll want all of your time, all the time. They’ll give you lavish and expensive gifts, take you to the best restaurants and tell you how special you are to them. They want to impress you and shower you with affection and desire, hoping that you will forget about their toxic behaviors. It will only last so long. When you finally see right trough their BS and want nothing to do with them, they will then threaten you and play the guilt trip when you dont give them what they want, when they want it. Always remember, once these energy vampires have stolen everything they can from you, they’ll get bored, then slip away and move on to their next victim.
Energy vampires hate being discovered for who they are!
Gang stalking
When they no longer have access to the energy of their victims, they love to stalk them at their home, at their work place and invite some of their friends, lovers and colleagues to join in their games. These energy vampires love to get people to side with them, to believe in their stories and lies in order to get people to participate against their victims.When they attack, they are never alone, as they know their power comes from the number of insecure people they have on their team. One of their favorite tactics is to deliberately choose to surround themselves with insecure people who suffer from very low self-esteem. What is the reason for this? Only people with low self-esteem can participate in their games, because when you lack emotional intelligence and judgment, you become their puppets that they can easily control and manipulate.
When they have exhausted all the support from their puppets, they will become aggressive in their tactis to stay in contact with their victims. They will then stalk you online, so don’t be surprised if you receive threatening messages on your social media. They are even ready to go so far as to pay a private detective or people in high places to obtain personal information about their victims.This can be confidential bank account statements, medical records, or anything else that they can use on their victims. They are known to put a tracking device on your car, hack your Wi-Fi and install hidden cameras.
Reverse psychology
These energy vampires love to be in high demand from others and will be constantly using reverse psychology to their advantage. Remember they are doing this because they like to see you chase after them. Reverse psychology is a manipulation technique that involves getting people to commit to a desired action by suggesting the opposite. They use this technique because they like to persuade others to do what they want. Here is an example of their typical behavior when you first encounter them on a date. After spending a pleasant day with them, when you go and contact them back to find out their next availability, they will pretend to be too busy in their schedule and act very aloof and distant.
Sometimes they will go as far as taking numerous photos on their social media with different people, so that you get a sense that you need to compete with others for their attention.They love to pretend they’re not interested in you, when in fact, they’re very interested. When you see these signs, run and move on. You don’t want to waste your precious time with someone who treats you like a game, manipulates you, or has the power to make you feel like you’re not enough. Unfortunately, many people will play in their games because people are more drawn to things they have to work harder for than what comes effortlessly.
Here’s a fun fact about the popularity of reverse psychology and how it’s used in many businesses today. Did you know that reverse psychology is one of the most popular tools in marketing strategies to get people to buy faster? When companies choose to promote a product and say that its availability is limited and you only get the special promotion within an hour, they know that the majority of people will tend to buy it faster and in large quantities. The truth is, the product will always be available, but they want you to feel special after purchasing this limited item. Same as the Energy Vampire, when they can make you feel like they’re not readily available and you know how many people are interested in them; psychologically, the message they project onto you, is how much special you are to even have a chance to date them. Unfortunately, this is where most people will get desperate and do whatever it takes to impress them and more importantly, chase after them. Don’t fall for it.
Play the victim
This is usually the last action they take when all the previous actions haven’t worked in their favor. These energy vampires all suffer from a superiority intelligence complex and believe that no one will ever understand them or look into their broken lives. All they care about is themselves and the feeling of winning. But when their time is up and they do get discovered, they love to play the victim card. Many of these vampires will emotionally manipulate their way out of all their past actions through their communication skills. Be careful of the words they choose, as they are master manipulators who are very good at concealing the truth. Unfortunately, many victims will fall into the trap.
How do people become energy vampires?
Energy vampires are not naturally born this way. I believe that at birth everyone has a pure soul, but not everyone is blessed with nurturing conditions or has the chance of being born into a loving family. They are created by numerous accounts of psychological abuse that are very painful to go through. Many peole are not aware on how much these people have suffered in childhood. Many of them suffered physical, emotional and sexual abuse. They have received a transference of suffering from one of their parents. For some, the level of pain is so high that they cannot process or feel what it’s like to be loved. Instead of seeking for help or going into therapy to heal from their past traumas, they become just like their abusers and choose to live a life of pain and misery. Only broken people can find pleasure in breaking others. Remember that people learn by watching others.
Most of these vampires are unaware of the repercussions of their actions on the lives of others and are surprised when Karma, a universal law, comes back to haunt them. I always say to people who have been personally attacked by one, to not worry even if it feels like these vampires got away with it, because there will be justice for what they did to you. It’s only a matter of time before these energy vampires are discovered for who they really are. The truth is that they are already paying for the consequences of their actions and that is to live each and every single day with the pain, anger and sadness of what was done to them in their past.
What type of personalities are they attracted to?
Generally, energy vampires are attracted to good people who stand out and have a positive mindset, are empathetic, are generous and have great social skills. This means that their perfect choice will always be someone who has a loving personality. Unfortunately, these vampires do not attack their fellow creatures who share the same frequency as their own, they can only feed off their opposite energy. Their main goal is to destroy your light (essence), for they receive a tremendous sense of satisfaction when they know that you can no longer function and be yourself in society. In the long term, these attacks can lead to burnout or even depression.
Tips for cutting out energy vampires
Fortunately, there are several solutions to protect yourself from these toxic relationships; here are my three suggestions:
1) CUT ALL CONTACT WITH THEM: The longer you stay, the harder it will be to cut ties with them and the more you will feel drained by their manipulation tactics. Stay very vigilant because they can become extremely dangerous when you reject them and want nothing to do with them. They will go into predatory mode and commit desperate actions. Be prepared to go to the police and ask for a restraining order from a lawyer.
2) TAKE YOUR PLACE AND KEEP YOUR HEAD HIGH: You are a person of value in society and there is no one in the world who can make you feel otherwise. Keep getting involved in activities that nurture you and surround yourself with people who have been through similar situations. You will be surprised to learn on the number of people who have gone trough the same battles as yourself.
3) TALK, TALK AND TALK: Allows you to release certain negative emotions that hold you hostage to your own happiness. Having a support group or a professional to talk to can change your perspective and give you the feeling that you are not alone. For those who are not ready to communicate their feelings openly, you can express and release them trough writing.
To all survivors reading this article, we take our power back when we stop letting toxic people control how we think, feel, or behave. Life has given us a huge lesson on how to love ourselves more and especially how to defend ourselves. Always stay in your personal power, never doubt your power and keep moving forward. Stay strong and remember, the universe sees everything. You are not alone. The worst is behind you. Life will one day humble these energy vampires and all who participated in your destruction, believe me. What is done in the dark will one day come to light.
